This weekend at CVS was decent. There was not too much that I was interested in and I have $37 in ECB's ready to roll but I didn't want to use them just to use them.

I snagged a box of diapers at $19.99 I used a CVS coupon for $2.00 off as well as a printable coupon from coupons.com for $3 off. I earned $10 ECBs

I also grabbed 2 Mitchum Deoderants one mans and one womans. They were on sale for $2.99 and I had 2 $.75 off coupons for them. I earned $2 in ECB's

They had Colgate Total on sale for $2.99 and I had a $.75 coupon for that as well and I earned $2 in ECB's.

Lastly I really needed a bottle of Tylenol but there was none to be found (recall?) That was OK because they had CVS Acetaminophen on sale for $3.99 and I earned 3 ECB's.

So it wasn't a horrible trip, just not as good as a some of the past ones. Here is the breakdown:

So I haven't been blogging for awhile. It's not because I haven't been saving, it's just life. So much has been going on with a new baby on the way that I haven't had the chance to keep up. Once again I will try!!
This past weekend went really well and I think it was because I know that the baby is near arrival and I won't be able to deal search for awhile!

My canning journey.

I have recently decided to try the art of canning and preserving fruits and vegetables. So far I feel I have done a decent job. I have done Strawberry Jam, Raspberry Jam, Salsa, Applesauce, and Cinnamon Applesauce.

I hope to do carrots this year and next year branch out to do more things. In time I hope It will help me save even more money. Well lets not talk about the applesauce! Story for another post.

Anyways the shelves you see with the fruits of my labor were created this weekend by my husband. I had extra closet space that I was going to buy shelves for and instead he offered to make them for me for half the cost!

I love them and I have just enough room to store all of my accessories as well as all of my filled jars!

OK So I thought I would try something new. I have had a few people recently ask where in the heck all of the coupons come from. In a previous post of mine I stated that I receive 3 newspapers and a Magazine called All You. I also receive coupon inserts from people who do not use them or they take what they want and give me the rest. You can find hang tags in stores and gas stations with coupons on them and I also recently found a Kraft Flier at Jewel in one of the aisles that had coupons. They are all around us just waiting to be used!.

Do I clip everything I see? Not normally. I clip everything I will definitely use and then I clip everything I would use or try if it were free. The rest all go in a bag for others to look through. Half the time I think they end up going to waste.

People are wondering.... where am I going with this??

Each week I can post a Coupon Exchange - people can then comment and state if they have an abundance of certain coupons they are willing to swap - or if they are in a real need for certain coupons. You can also post if you have a received a coupon that you think is great but you will never use it.

By putting some kind of contact you can then work together to swap or send out your coupons.

Hopefully this will help others start saving and getting into coupons as well!

Old Navy Hidden Coupons

If you like to work for your coupons Old Navy has the site for you! Every week you can hunt the Old Navy Weekly page for Awesome coupons. The best one is $75/$100 they also have $50/$100 as well as others but they go fast so you have got to be quick.
Every Thursday(I am not sure if it is going to be every Thursday they may change it) between 8-11pm they update the site and once the number of coupons they want to give out are gone they are gone. Unfortunately no one knows the exact time the page updates so it turns into a waiting game. Last night the page updated at approx 10:45pm and by 11:15 all good coupons were gone.

The coupon says "One Time Use Only" but what exactly does that mean?
Each coupon has a unique barcode that can only be used once. So once it's been scanned and applied to a purchase the barcode will show up as invalid if it's scanned again. The same goes for coupons that are photocopied, whoever is the first to use the coupon will receive the discount but it will not work for anyone else after that.
What if I lost my coupon after I printed it on the site?
Just click the "Retrieve Coupon" button on the bottom of the site and enter your email address to have it resent to you.

This plastic pack models Old Navy's hottest styles and has gathered quite the fan following for their good looks and fun personalities. Ok So I had a decent run at Jewel this week until I screwed it up! -More on that later.....
All in all I got:
12 Breyers Ice Cream
10 Knorr Noodles
4 Fruit Snacks
3 Ragu
3 Chex Mix
4 Packs Bic pens
2 Boxes Pop Tarts
Totaling 38 Items Money Spent : $24.81 Cost per item bought $.65!!!!!!!

Ok - so now you want to know how I did it right! Well here goes.....

On the back of this weeks Jewel ad there are multiple items you can purchase to earn $15 off your next shopping order. You need to purchase $30 in items listed but what it doesn't tell you is that the computer recognizes the shelf price not the sale price....soooo you can actually spend less than $30 and receive $15 in coupons. With me so far?? This can be done multiple ways but here is what I did.

Transaction #1
6 Breyers Ice Cream
4 Bic pens
I used 3 $1/2 coupons for Breyers that I printed off the Internet
I used 2 $1/2 coupons for Bic pens from Coupons.com(this made them free)
Total spent $15.14 and I received $15 in coupons for my next order
Transaction #2
10 Knorr noodles
4 Fruit snacks
3 Ragu sauce
3 Chex mix
I used coupons for the noodles totaling $2.50
I used $1 coupon for Ragu
and I used .80 in coupons for fruit snacks
$15 dollars in coupons from previous order
Total Spent $7.73 but I earned $15 off my next order
Transaction #3
6 Breyers Ice cream
2 Pop tarts
I used $4/5 Breyers( I got this from my 1st order)
I used $1/2 Pop tarts from the paper
$15 in coupons from previous order
Total Spent $1.94

The last transaction is where I screwed up. You are only allowed to do 2 transaction per day per preferred card and I did not know that. Had I done the 3rd transaction today I would of gotten more coupons. But you live and learn and now I am more prepared for next time. I still feel I did great, where can you get Breyers for $.65??!!!

OK so I am not slacking......I did not receive a Jewel Ad or a Strak Ad in my mail or paper this week.
I do know that Strak has an exceptional deal on Pop and I hope when I go there today there are still some ads left because you need the in ad coupon. I believe it is 5/$7.88

After a year and a half of talking about it and wanting one I finally bit the bullet and bought a laptop. HP took all the nail biting out of the big purchase. I got several free upgrades, free shipping, and no interest for 12 mo. Who could ask for anything more!

It has been confirmed that K-mart will be hosting a doubles event starting 7/5. Since it starts on a Sunday I am to assume it will be at all K-marts. The crummy part is that they have changed their guidelines YET AGAIN!

Arm and Hammer total care fabric sheets are 3 for $8 use 3 $1 coupons and get them 3 for $5 or $1.67 each

Nature's Bounty vitamins are BOGO use 2/$1 or 2/$2(possibly found on the website) for possibly a decent deal.

Lays chips are also BOGO there was $1 coupons in today's paper use 2 for a decent deal depending on how much the chips are.

I do not shop at K-mart all that much unless they are doing double coupon days. The prices seem to be higher than most other places so the double coupons make shopping there worth while. They seem to double about once a month.

Months ago a WONDERFUL relative told me all about a website called E-Bates. This particular web-site pays you to shop on line at over 900 stores! I too first thought there was a catch but I have yet to find one. Here's how it works.....

Coupons, coupons, and more coupons

Some ask where the heck do all of my coupons come from?? It is sad but true I do not pay for weekly newspaper delivery but I do receive 3 papers on Sunday. I also receive coupon inserts from a couple of people who are not avid couponers.
Yes I do find the time to cut and sort all of my own coupons - one's that I know I will not use or that I have too many of go in a bag for work and I in turn will sometimes go through that bag if I need something. Share and share alike!

I also receive a magazine called All You. It can be found at Walmart but I ordered my own subscription through E-bates which in itself is a whole other post! All You is chock full of savings ideas and tips as well as coupons.

I receive some coupons in the mail from certain web sites I have registered with and I also receive e-mails from certain companies because I registered with their sites. Coupons.com and smart source are also to great places for IP (Internet coupons) coupons!

Jewel no longer accepts expired coupons! Such a shame! I had a coupon that had just expired 4 days prior and they turned it away. So make sure all of your coupons are good before heading out.

Savings at Strak starting 6/25/2009

There are a few good buys at Strak this week with the in add coupons as well as some manufacturers coupons.

*Gallon of Centrella Milk $1.79 with in add coupon
*Wonder hamburger buns $0.49 with in add coupon
*Pepsi buy 4 - 12 packs get two free with in add coupon 6/$12
*Kraft mayonnaise/miracle whip 2/$5 (I had 2 coupons $.75 & $1) final price 2/ $3.25
*Buy 4 Breyers ice cream for $10 and get free ice cream cups and magic shell
(I had two $1/2 coupons for breyers and .55 off magic shell) so for $7.45 I got 4 gallons of ice cream, magic shell, and ice cream cups!
*Chi Chi's salsa 2/$4 ( I had 2/.55 coupons) final price 2/$2.90
* Kraft dressing is also on sale for 3/$5 or $1.67. (I used a $1 coupon) final price $.67

I purchased all of the above mentioned items as well as a couple loaves of bread on sale for $.99 and 3 boxes of pasta that was $1.00 each. I also got a package of tortilla chips and 3 chicken kiev's. My final total was $42.54 with a savings of $48.39!!

About 7 or 8 months ago I had started a blog only to let it fade off into non-existence. I was fairly new at couponing, trying to save money and being frugal. By no means am I now an expert but I feel good knowing that I might of encouraged a few people to jump on the bandwagon and start to save some money!
This summer I am determined to save as much as I possibly can and I will chronicle that through my blog as well as try and help others save at certain stores as well.
The main stores I will focus on are CVS, Target, Jewel, Strak and VanTil, Walgreens and from time to time others as long as there is a good deal.
I encourage people to share their saving tips and success stories. By doing so hopefully we all can make some cents!!
